On Your Feet
Ambrose Bierce, aka The Guy Who Wrote All Those Funny Things, supposedly wrote"There is nothing new under the sun but there are lots of old things we don't know."
Which, today at least, I take to mean Get Over Yourself. (More specifically, Get Over Yourself Ecclesiastes.)
When I was a kid (in my younger and more vulnerable years) my cousin once said that real boredom isn't when you can't think of anything fun to do, but rather when you can think of a lot of fun things to do but you just don't want to do them.
I wasted a lot of years being bored in exactly that way, sitting in stuffy rooms thinking about all the things I wasn't doing. I am still prone to those moods, but thankfully Life tends to get in the way of my wisfullness these days. There is work to be done, diapers to be changed, gardens (with real toads in them) to be tended. It ain't exactly Work Will Set You Free, but for this lazy ass kid it's close enough.
